Coronavirus scams, your money, unemployment— Jeff’s newsletter cuts through the noise.
Instagram is hearing the backlash.
Users have been frustrated over the app showing more "suggested" posts rather than content from their friends and family. Now Instagram is testing out two new features that will help you control more of what you're seeing on the app.
One of the features lets you mark multiple posts on the "Explore Page" with a "Not Interested" option. The app will then hide those posts and won't give you similar content. Instagram will also start testing the ability for you to filter out posts based on certain words, phrases, or even emojis that could be in the caption or hashtag.
On the announcement, Instagram shared tips that you can use to see more of what you want on the app. For example, you can get rid of suggested posts for a short period of time by “snoozing” them for 30 days. To snooze suggested posts, tap the X on the top right corner, and then tap “Snooze all suggested posts for 30 days.”
Even with all these future changes, you'll still get some suggested posts, just less of what you don't want to see. Instagram is in the testing phase but we could be seeing these changes coming to our phones soon.
