Texas Tech on Friday announced the addition of Ashley Chevalier, a former national top-100 women's basketball recruit who began her career at Texas.

Chevalier is a 5-foot-7 point guard from Chatsworth (Calif.) Sierra Canyon who was ranked the No. 86 recruit nationally by ESPNW Hoop Gurlz coming out of high school. She played in seven games this past season for the Longhorns before having her name entered into the NCAA transfer portal in early December. She averaged 2.7 points and 2.6 assists.

As a true freshman the year before, Chevalier played in 28 games, averaging 2.9 points and 1.5 assists.

"Ashley is an exciting sign for us and will bring a tenacity to our team both offensively and defensively," Lady Raiders coach Krista Gerlich said. "She is a great on-ball defender that will cause havoc in the backcourt by making the tough plays like taking charges and applying resistance on the ball.

"Ashley has good speed and can get downhill to distribute the basketball. She can shoot the 3-ball and has a high basketball IQ."

Chevalier has three seasons of eligibility left. She's expected to enroll at Tech in the summer.

Vivian Gray was named a Women's Basketball Coaches Association Honorable Mention All-America selection Thursday.

A native of Argyle, Gray closed her Lady Raider career by receiving multiple accolades including First Team All-Big 12 honors, CoSIDA Academic All-America honors and the aforementioned WBCA All-American distinction.

When Gray was named a First Team All-Big 12 selection, she became just the fourth women's basketball player in Big 12 history to be named a four-time All Big-12 First Team selection.

This season, Gray averaged a team-best 20.2 points and 5.3 rebounds. The combo-guard also contributed 51 assists, 45 steals and 25 blocks. Gray's 45 steals and 25 blocks were the most by a Lady Raider this season.

Other season highlights included Gray reaching both the 2,000-point mark for her D-I career and the 2,500-point mark for her entire career. She began her basketball career at the D-II level playing for Fort Lewis College.

Gray, the 28th All-America selection in Lady Raider history, sets her sights on the WNBA Draft which is scheduled for April 11 on ESPN.
