TikTok started live testing the “Watch History” feature on its app in March 2022 but the feature has recently gone missing and it caused an outcry on Twitter and other platforms. Find out how to see your watch history on TikTok now to view watched videos again.
Twitter is currently full of users stating their disappointment with TikTok’s step of removing the Watch History feature while others are simply perplexed as to why can’t they find it. The newly added feature instantly became a fan favorite due to its utility.
There are many times when you accidentally tap the wrong button and the amazing video that you were watching just vanishes from the screen. The feature helped users to view the video again. However, it’s gone for now and TikTok didn’t explain when it’ll be back.
Fortunately, there are multiple workarounds available until the Watch History feature comes back. Although they aren’t as straightforward, you can use them to get back any lost TikTok video that you have already watched at least once.
TikTok added the “Watch History” feature a couple of months ago for limited users to complete its beta testing. Users can find the feature within the TikTok app by going to “Settings and Privacy.” From there, they can tap on “Watch History.”
After that, they can view the recently watched TikTok videos in the past 7 days. It didn’t show the videos beyond the past 7 days. For now, the feature is gone and users have to use special workarounds to see the watch history or watched videos on TikTok.
We have shared the two best methods below. You can try any of these and it’ll help you find any TikTok video that you have already watched. The 7 days limit is not applicable for these methods.
TikTok offers a “Watched videos” filter when you search for videos on the platforms. This way you can separate both unwatched and watched TikToks from the search results. You can use this video to find any video that you may have missed mistakenly.
You may have to look for a while to find the video you are looking for as the results will be in random order. You can also use the “Liked videos” filter if you remember tapping the heart icon on that particular video.
There’s one more way to find the TikTok videos that you have lost accidentally after watching. You’ll have to download the data file of your TikTok profile which contains all the information about the videos you have watched on the platform.
This method works for everyone including Android, iOS, and PC users. Follow these steps:
The file will be downloaded in ZIP format. Once downloaded, launch and extract it using an extractor app on your device.
Go through the file and navigate to “Video browsing history.” This TXT file will contain the title, date, time, and link to every video you have watched.
You can simply locate the video you were trying to find, copy its link, and paste it into a browser to watch it once again. Remember that this TikTok data file remains available on your profile for 4 days. After that, you’ll have to request it again.
The Watch History feature on TikTok was similar to YouTube’s Watch History but it only showed videos from the past seven days. TikTok introduced the feature in mid-March earlier this year to a limited number of users for testing purposes.

The feature instantly got fans’ approval as it made finding the incredible videos that you have already watched again in case you want to show it to a friend, create a similar one, or have any other purpose.

However, TikTok has removed the feature for now. It’s unknown if the feature is removed to be included as a publically available feature in the next update or if TikTok has scrapped it despite fans wanting it a lot. We can only find that out in the future.

Most of the users are just disheartened upon losing a much-needed feature while others couldn’t figure out why the feature has gone missing. It’s possible that TikTok brings it back upon seeing the users’ reactions on social networking sites.
